Job Description:

nou Systems, Inc. has openings in Huntsville, Alabama for talented engineers and scientists to provide technical services to the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Operational Test Agency (OTA) Team. The BMDS OTA Team provides an independent operational assessment of the BMDS capability to defend the United States, its deployed forces, friends, and allies against ballistic missiles of all ranges and in all phases of flight.

Duties include: Apply engineering principles to analyze and evaluate ballistic missile threat systems.  Participate threat modeling working groups as the technical representative for the BMDS OTA to ensure the threat systems utilized in testing are operationally realistic and are adequately represented in operational testing.  Perform analysis of test events to support threat assessments and their impact on the BMDS, and prepare briefings and reports summarizing analysis and assessments.  Execute threat modeling/generation software and compare the results to threats injected for system level testing.  Threat comparisons need to include kinematics as well as RF and IR signature comparisons.  Work autonomously as well as lead teams of engineers and scientists to investigate complex system behavior and produce complete technical products. Direct technical work of others, assess complex systems through synthesis of analytical results and expert judgment, review technical documentation, conduct analytical studies and prepare technical reports/briefings on research findings.  More experienced candidates are also expected to demonstrate innovative application of technical skills to develop intellectual property, solve challenging problems, and serve as a source of professional and technical knowledge accumulated through experience.

Preferred Skills:

Qualifications: To qualify for this position, the candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 6-12 years of experience, Master’s degree and 4-10 years of experience, or Ph.D. and 2-8 years’ experience in one of the following disciplines: engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or computer science. Applicant must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be proficient with office automation tools.  Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.  Employment requires the ability to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET clearance with SCI.


Desired experience includes: Missile threat modeling, Intelligence community coordination, RF and IR signatures, missile system design. Preferred applicants will have experience in one or more of the following areas:  conducting complex analytical studies, developing or adapting analysis tools to suit needs, building reusable, well documented MATLAB/Python utilities, assessing the suitability, effectiveness, survivability, and interoperability of complex military systems, and evaluating threat intelligence information as it pertains to system performance.
