Job Description:

nou Systems, Inc. (nSI) has an opening for a Mid-level Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama to provide technical services to the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Operational Test Agency (OTA) Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Accreditation Team, which independently assesses the M&S used in the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) testing venues. 

Candidate will support the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) Operational Test Agency (OTA) Team by providing M&S accreditation expertise. Candidate will review verification and validation evidence provided by the M&S owners and provide an accreditation recommendation for the M&S, based on the established intended uses. Candidate will assist program office personnel in ensuring that the accreditation assessments support the BMDS OTA’s evaluations and are executed in a manner that leads to mission success. Candidate will be expected to design and prepare technical reports and related documentation and make charts and graphs to record results.  The candidate will work autonomously and as part of a team of engineers and scientists, as necessary, to investigate M&S behaviors. Candidate is expected to demonstrate innovative application of technical skills to develop intellectual property, solve challenging problems, and serve as a source of professional and technical knowledge accumulated through experience.

Preferred Skills:

To qualify for this position, the candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 5-12 years of experience, a Master’s degree and 3-10 years of experience, or a Ph.D. and 1-8 years of experience in an applicable science (Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Physics).  Knowledge of the BMDS elements and associated M&S and knowledge of the BMDS threat models is highly desired. The candidate should have experience in the following specific areas of modeling and simulation:  1) understanding the link between intended uses and M&S requirements, or 2) understanding verification, validation, and accreditation concepts, especially for the threat models. Candidate should have experience working on one or more intensive programs, demonstrate knowledge of and application of industry best practices, and understand the M&S accreditation processes and methodologies. Experience with missile defense M&S frameworks, in particular the Objective Simulation Framework (OSF), operational testing, and DoD acquisition programs is preferred. Candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, be proficient with office automation tools and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Employment requires the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
